Draw a Bed and Climb In It

I LOVE TO DRAW.

I've always loved drawing.  As a kid I would question my mom as to what I should draw next.  Her response was always the same.

“Draw a bed and climb in it.”

As I'm older I am struck with the profundity and power these words hold if cared for properly.

Imagination and creativity have power to “bring into being”.  To incarnate.  We are capable of pulling from the invisible to shape the visible.  To conceive of a thing and watch it grow flesh.

The creative process has become a place of prayer and meditation, of confession and struggle and a place for ugliness to be confronted by grace and beauty.  It has become a place to make my bed and climb in it.
